Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the Pollenocalypse! At least if you live in the Southeast of the US. Everything is a slightly sinister of yellow-green, and we can’t stop sneezing. The downside of living in a region with lush tree growth everywhere.
Okay, on with the updates. First of all, the thing I’ve been talking about for so long is (almost) here! Yes, my Kickstarter campaign for an illustrated edition has been approved! It should go live sometime this summer, probably in June, but in the meantime you can check out the preview here. The page isn’t finished–I haven’t done a video, for example–but a lot of it is already up. You can check out the story, the reward tiers, samples of the illustrations and interior design, the brand-new prequel short story, and all the other stuff. You can also follow the campaign by hitting the “notify me on launch” button. This doesn’t require you to back the campaign; you just get a reminder when the campaign goes live. I recommend following the campaign if you’re at all interested, especially since there will be early-bird bonuses for people who pledge during the first 48 hours of the campaign. Again, the link to preview the campaign is here.
Second of all, I just started a book in a series I’d never heard of before, but is turning out to be great! The book is called Flame of Sevenwaters. I stumbled across it on Threads and somehow knew instantly that I needed to check it out. I’m about ⅓ of the way through it and not regretting my choice to read it at all. It’s the story of Maeve, the daughter of an Irish chieftain. She’s come back home after a ten-year absence following her injuries in a terrible fire. She can’t use her hands as a result, but she has a magical connection with animals, which (I suspect) may be the key to defeating the malevolent fey lord who is targeting her family…It’s good classic epic fantasy with a grounding in Irish mythology. If you’re casting about for something to read, I recommend it!
As always, I welcome reading recommendations in turn 🙂 Please send them my way, and once again, the Kickstarter preview is here.
Happy reading!
