Major twist I did not see coming

Hi All!

I know, I know–long time, no see, metaphorically speaking. I’ve been busy with work and with preparing for the release of a book by my other pen name. But I did want to drop you a quick line with recommendations for some great books I’ve read recently.

First of all, I know we’re past spooky season and moving towards cozy season, but if you’re into supernatural historical horror, I highly recommend The Witch of Wapping! (Disclaimer: I have the same last name as one of the authors because we’re cousins). It’s a short illustrated novella about some scary goings-on in 19th-century London. A fascinating look at what life was like for the lower classes then, as well as a gripping story of supernatural revenge.

Second of all, if you’re looking for some truly thought-provoking fantasy, I recently discovered the author Sheri S. Tepper. How did it take so long for me to find out about her? I just read The Gate to Women’s Country and I can’t recommend it enough. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where people live in a sex-segregated society that loosely harkens back to ancient Greece, it slowly unfolds a thrilling mystery with a major twist at the end. It’s different than anything I’ve ever read before, but all the more interesting because of that. Highly recommend for all readers interested in feminist fantasy and anti-war writing.

So there you have my top two reading recommendations for the month! What about you? Any recent reads you’d care to share? Let me know!

Happy reading,

E.P. Clark
